Grant Description
The International Press Institute (IPI) invites media organizations from Ukraine to apply for a rapid response grant aimed at supporting emergency reporting and institutional needs.
Terms and Conditions
Average grant amounts are recommended to be in the range of:
- 1,000 – 5000 USD for individual media outlets
- 15,000 – 20,000 USD for media associations, networks and unions.
Amounts requested outside this range will be considered on an individual basis.
Eligible costs can include but are not limited to:
- equipment (helmets, vests, etc.)
- office equipment (e.g., generators)
- costs to support urgent reporting initiatives
- emergency relocation
- basic operational costs.
The grant will be provided in the form of a direct payment to the applicant. Grantees will be asked to submit a financial report to IPI.
Funding is limited and we therefore encourage those interested to apply as soon as possible.
Eligibility
Ukrainian media organizations (including media associations, networks and unions) are invited to submit applications.
Timeline
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting immediately after the publication of this call and until funds are exhausted. The application process is intended to be quick and unbureaucratic with applications reviewed by IPI鈥檚 expert team in a short time frame. Applications will be reviewed as quickly as possible.
Activities can be carried out until December 1, 2023. The financial and narrative reports must be submitted by this date.
Assessment criteria
Assessment will be made primarily on the basis of need, although IPI will seek to prioritize media outlets that have relatively limited access to international support funds, as well as regional and local media.
Grant decisions are made solely by IPI. Donor organizations are not permitted to influence the selection of grantees.
